Wimbledon and Cross Encounters - Week in Review

Cross Encounters Radio

Last Sunday's guest was Pastor Andrew Rappaport of Striving for Eternity Ministries. Andrew shared about the upcoming Jersey Fire conference and stuck around to give a Pastor's perspective on the 'Superman Sermon Series' being conducted by many churches across the country. Chris Hohnholz gave some very insightful and Bible based reasons as to why "The Man of Steel" is an unneeded and even unbiblical preaching methodology.

V-Tracts

Tony began a new video series then called “V-Tracts.” These videos, each of which will be in the 5-minute range, are designed to present the law and gospel in a relatively short and succinct manner—much like a gospel tract. We hope this will help in your online evangelism efforts.

You can find all of them listed on Tony's YouTube Channel under the playlist V-Tracts

They are also available in Audio at the Pulpit and Streets Sermon Audio page.

Wimbledon Outreach 2013

Tony is in London to take part in Sports Fan Outreach International's 'Wimbledon Outreach 2013'. This will be the first part of a grueling traveling schedule for Tony over the next few months. Please keep all the team members and their families in your prayers.

Cross Encounters – Week in Review

Cross Encounters Radio

Tony's guests included Christian rapper Jovan Mackenzy, and abortion abolitionist (and full-time mom) Shauna Lopez.

During the broadcast Jovan shared how James White and Phil Johnson came to be included in the free download album The Narrow Road: FAMINE

Shauna shared her advice and opinion on a woman's role in evangelism. As a full-time mom and one that actively engages in abortion ministry, her perspective on the issue is first hand.

CEN will be returning in July at a new time. More details to come.

V-Tracts

Last week Tony began a new video series then called “E-Tracts.” The name has been changed to "V-Tracts." Wimbledon Outreach 2013

Day 1 in London has started off Very Intense and Wimbledon hasn't even begun. The following pictures and comments came in from Tony.

My heart was broken at the level of licentiousness, promiscuity, hatred of authority, homosexuality I saw in these young people. I saw these kids do things that I cannot mention. I had to delete photos containing content that would have been utterly inappropriate to post.

What started out as a conversation with a small group of young people ended up being a one-to-one conversation with Bella. My heart broke for her as she seemed to understand and appreciate the conversation, only to run back to her friends and participate in their debauchery. — in London, England.

This girl offered me heroin. — in London, England.

Please pray for the people of London as the gospel is proclaimed by this small group of Christians.

God's Goodness in Five Minutes

My good friend (and one of the best preachers/teachers I know), Geoff Kirkland, posted the following challenge a few minutes ago on Twitter:
"TRY THIS: take 5 minutes & write out (or type out) ALL the ways that God's goodness has manifested itself to you! Get started..."
I've got the timer feature on my iPhone set for five minutes. Let's see what happens. Ready...go!
God's goodness was first made manifest in my life when he gave me life. And then, He gave me eternal life. He saved me from the sin debt I owed Him by allowing His Son, Jesus Christ, to take upon Himself the punishment I rightly deserve. He canceled out my debt and caused me to be born again.

God's goodness is manifested in my life through my wonderful wife and three daughters. He allows me the privilege of loving and serving my wife and my children.

God's goodness is manifested in my life through the ministry He has given me. He allows me to serve Him and others through the proclamation of the gospel.

God's goodness is manifested in my life in that He has given me the ability to reason, to understand, to know, to marvel, to wonder. I can look at the nighttime sky and declare as His Word does that "the heavens declare the glory of God" (Psalm 19:1).

God's goodness is manifested in my life in that he provides for all of my needs. He has given me a life in which worry is only a product of a sinful nature, and not necessary or fruitful. I need not worry about anything because the Lord is with me. Even though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death, I will fear no evil. His rod and His staff, they comfort me.
Time!

Now that was a very enjoyable five minutes. Thanks, brother Geoff!

Who is Matthew Vine, and Why Should Christians Care?

According to the biography on his website, Matthew Vines is:
". . . an is an advocate for the acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people within Christian communities and in society at large. He lives in Wichita, Kansas. Matthew attended Harvard University from 2008 to 2010. He then took a leave of absence in order to research the Bible and homosexuality and work toward LGBT inclusion in the church.

"In March 2012, Matthew delivered a speech at a church in his hometown about the Bible and homosexuality, calling for acceptance of gay Christians and their marriage relationships. Since then, the video of the speech has been seen more than 500,000 times on YouTube, and it was featured in The New York Times and The Christian Post.

"In 2013, Matthew launched The Reformation Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to training LGBT Christians and their allies to reform church teaching on sexual orientation and gender identity. Matthew is currently writing a book about the Bible and sexuality, which will be published by Random House in early 2014."
Matthew Vines is not a Christian. Now, before the atheists homosexuals, and liberal quasi-theologians run amuck, scrambling for their logical fallacy playbooks, and start screaming, "Foul! That's the 'No True Scotsman Fallacy!'" my statement is only fallacious if there is no objective standard by which I can assert what God commands "true Christians" to believe and to reject. God's Word is clear. Homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; 1 Timothy 1:8-11), according to God--the only true standard-setter for truth (John 3:33; Romans 3:4) and morality. Only God is good (Mark 10:18; Luke 18:19). And those who wantonly and willfully violate God's law (Hebrews 10:26-31) and, in the process call him a liar (1 John 1:10), they do not belong to God (1 John 2:19). Rather, they are children of wrath (Ephesians 2:1-3), having the wrath of God abide on them (John 3:36).

Vines is but one of a growing number of homosexual apologists who insist the Bible does not teach against homosexuality. Of course, this makes him a darling to liberal and apostate churches who want their ears tickled by false teachers teaching that which is contrary to Scripture (2 Timothy 4:3-4). As nice-a-guy as Vines appears to be, he's a hater of God (Romans 1:29-32) who should be exposed as such.

Vines and his attempt to deceive Christians and non-Christians alike has come to the attention of Christian apologist, Matt Slick, of the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM). Matt has devoted a brand new section of the CARM website to address the errors of Matthew Vine's claims regarding the Bible and homosexuality.

Matt Slick writes:
"Matthew Vines is a young homosexual who, on March 8, 2012, spoke at College Hill United Methodist Church in Kansas in defense of biblical support for homosexuality. His approach was polite and delivered in an amiable manner. He tried to address various Scriptures head on as he sought to justify the idea that homosexuality is not a sin for Christians today. Of course, I strongly disagree. The following articles examine aspects of his talk and address the various errors that he has made in his presentation. I've tried to contact Mr. Vines but have not received a response."
Matt Slick has done excellent work on this section of the CARM website, which will prove to not only help to equip Christians who may have Matthew Vines come up in a conversation, but also to further equip Christians to discuss the issue of homosexuality, from a Christian worldview.
